The warehouse consists of a main hallway in which the automated retrieval robot circulates, with two shelving units located on either side for the storage of boxes or trays. A picking and handling area is located on one of the far or lateral sides of the shelving: the automated retrieval robots fetch the box for the operator, who, after concluding the processing task, returns it to the robot for relocation in its original position within the shelves. The entire system is run by warehouse management software which registers the location of all material stored in the warehouse.

The In-A-Box automated storage system is highly adaptable, thus allowing for easy integration as part of the warehouse storage proceedures already in use.
